Why Farmer Trainings
Starting from the farm and the farmer.
Farmer training is one of the two main actions of Farm of Francesco, we believe that the transformation of the food system starts from the farm and the farmer. Since our origins, our mission has been to work with farmers and to create spaces of encounter. The farmer trainings are those spaces of encounter where farmers from the same region come together and learn from each other as they advance their farm transition with regenerative agricultural practices.
Our training is structured following the See-Choose-Act process. Seeing the farmer’s reality, the specific region we are serving and understanding the soil and community; choosing the elements that will serve the farmers, co-creating the training agenda with local partners and the farmers themselves; acting by creating dialogue with the farmers, delivering the training and creating spaces online and offline with the farming community.
We understand that in order to make the transition, the training will be created with a balance between three pillars: Regenerative Agriculture, Entrepreneurship and Spirituality. Regenerative Agriculture practices are thought at a theoretical and practical level, farmers share among themselves, practices are learn from field visit and from other farmers and experts; Entrepreneurship involves learning those concepts and practices that make the farm economically sustainable, to be long lasting, all practices must be economically positive; Spirituality is the core, understanding the Know-Why and the importance of creating and nurturing a community of farmers. This pillar moves in a balanced and integral way.
